Application Server & Genus® Enterprise Services
Genus Enterprise Services is the server component which provides the
Genus Logix client with powerful and centralized services.
Genus Enterprise Services runs on Windows® 2000 Server or Windows Server™
2003, utilizing standard Windows® application server features like
Internet Information Services (IIS), Component Services, and Active Directory.
Genus Enterprise Services offers a rich set of services to Genus Logix, as
well as XML Web Services for external applications through industry standard
SOAP interfaces. Based on assessments regarding network bandwidth and CPU
load, the administrator may configure multiple servers running Genus
Enterprise Services, distributing data access accross a number of
application servers.

Genus Enerprise Services features the following services:

Object Services provide Genus Logix with transactional
services on business objects. Objects are retrieved and updated in a
transactional context which guarantees that your data is always
consistent. An audit trail is created for changes to objects, allowing
the object history to be viewed or searched. |

Exchange Services integrate with Microsoft® Exchange
Server and provide e-mail linked to business objects. It also optionally
supports storage of e-mail items on your database server. |

Document Services provide integrated document
handling linked to business objects. It supports storage of all types of
documents on your database server. It also includes powerful
capabilities to mail merge Microsoft® Office documents with business
objects. |

Scheduling Services provide integration with the
Windows® Scheduled Tasks service for executing scheduled business
actions. |

Web Services provide state-of-the-art
XML Web Services interface to your business logic using the power of
your meta-data enabled through Microsoft® Internet Information
Services. |

Security Services provide built-in logon authentication and user
authorization. Users are granted access to application resources (data
and functions) according to their credentials, based on Microsoft® Active
Directory mechanisms. Security Services may optionally integrate with an
Active Directory-based domain controller. |

Deployment Services provide web-enabled user
authorization and deployment, keeping the client up to date with the
latest version of the Genus operating environment. |
